Explained: ClearBright™ Film vs. ClearBright™ Screen

Here at Lux Labs we’re often asked to explain the difference between our ClearBright™ film and screen products. In essence, they’re the same product in two different form factors with the only difference that screens have ClearBright™ film pre-applied to clear acrylic. There’s advantages for each but it’s important to keep in mind they’re both the same technology that:

  • Turns any clear surface into a transparent projection screen

  • Works with any type of projector

ClearBright™ Film

Lux Labs core product is sold in rolls and can be applied to any clear surface.

Advantages

  • Apply to any window of any dimension

  • Cover full windows for a “can’t tell it’s there” look

  • Cheaper price per square foot

  • Standard installation process similar to any other type of adhesive backed window film

  • Less projector alignment needed - You can project content anywhere the film is covering. No need to cover the whole areas since anywhere where there’s no content will remain clear.

Challenges

  • Installation process can take some time or you’ll need to hire a window film installer

  • Once applied, ClearBright™ can’t be torn off and reused (It’s so clear that most never feel the need to tear it down!)

ClearBright™ film activates window surfaces turning them into transparent projection displays

ClearBright™ Screen

ClearBright™ film pre-applied to clear acrylic. Sold by Lux Labs in 2 sizes or contact us for custom sizes.

Advantages

  • Portable - move from window to window or transport as a lightweight transparent display screen

  • Easy install - Use sticky back tabs or hang near a window

  • Can also be used as a stand alone display (stand not included)

Challenges

  • More expensive per square foot

  • Appears less transparent so your content looks more like it’s being played on a screen and less like a transparent window display

  • More challenging projector alignment
